My cajon came in today!I?ve been trying to work but that new instrument is sitting right next to me asking to be played with. For reference, this is the first cajon I?ve seen in real life, so I?ve got a bit to learn about getting the sounds out of it that it is capable of.However, from what I can tell in the few minutes I?ve been able to play with it, it?ll be a great instrument for me.
I tried the cajon out Sunday morning playing in my church band. It sounded awesome. It was so bass infused, the sound guy had to add compression to lower the boom. Another guy in the band that has a Meinl cajon had some serious cajon envy. The guys were all amazed that a cajon at that price sounded that full. The larger size worked great for me. It is more comfortable for me to sit on than others I've played, and I don't have to tilt it at all to get the best sound.I will definitely purchase future cajons from you, and will lead anyone I know who is looking for one to your site. Thanks for the work you put into making these things a joy to play. Many props to you.
It looks and sounds amazing, Andy. You really do fantastic work and, yes, I really love the results. I had taken the cajon in to a drum shop last night to look for a protective bag (the one I had at home is a little small) ?lol?I wasn?t in the store but maybe 3 minutes and the store owner came up wanting to buy the cajon as he was impressed by all the work. So that really goes to your credit ?I made sure to let him know where I got it made.
The cajon came this morning. You do a great job building these. Thanks for everything and I trust you will have the best year ever in your business. Be blessed, Barbara Sellers
When I first went looking for cajons, I checked a lot of the big brands on videos (often mic'd with EQ tricks) and even tried some at a local store. None really had a sound that excited me. I liked that the videos for Nautilus sounded good and seemed less EQ'd up. I liked the 2 heads and double snare of the Flagship Cajon, so I had to get it at the sale price. Since I got it, I've played it regularly at my church. It has a great sound, whether double mic'd on stage or just jamming outside in front of my house. I love the larger size and good bass/snare separation. Others have heard it and marvel at the sound for the price. If you are looking for a cajon, skip the big brands and take a chance. Having a percussionist making them makes a huge difference in getting an awesome sound! If the birch sounds so good, I can only imagine how good the more expensive wood ones sound. I'll definitely be buying more from Nautilus in the future.
so glad my first cajon was a Nautilus
